School days only
This chain counts Monday to Friday, skips any days off you add under More options (Memorial Day is added for you when it falls before the last day), and puts the final link on the last day of school itself. The number on each link is how many school days are left, counting that day.
The default is an ABC countdown: 26 school days, one letter each, from "A: Art afternoon" to "Z: Zip up your backpack". It is a common classroom tradition for the end of the year. For a whole class, choose the Big size so the links read from across the room.
Set your school's real last day first. The default is the last Friday in May. School out in June? Pick "mid June" above or type the date.
Questions people ask
How do I count school days left without weekends?
Pick "school day" under One link for each. Saturdays and Sundays are skipped, and you can add days off such as teacher workdays. Each link shows how many school days are left, counting that day.
What is an ABC countdown?
A classroom countdown of the last 26 school days, one letter each, with a small theme for the day: hat day for H, pajama day for P. The built-in list gives one idea per letter.
Can I make one for my classroom?
Yes. Choose the Big size (7 links per sheet) so the numbers and ideas are easy to read from a distance, and print on colored paper with black ink only to save toner.
Does it count the last day of school?
Yes, by default. The last link comes off on the last day itself. Untick "Add a link for the big day itself" if your class tears off links at the end of each day.
Can I use it for the first day of school?
Yes. Set the big day to the first day of school and switch to one link per day, since summer has no school days to count.
